By Air

The Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport (MSP) sees 34 million passengers each year. The Airports International Council named it the best airport in North America in its size category in both 2016 and 2017. MSP is served by 18 airlines and is a major hub for Delta Air Lines. MSP has two terminals—Terminal 1 and Terminal 2—and domestic and international flights land at both locations.

When you enter the baggage claim area after your flight lands, look for General Conference 2020 volunteers in bright purple vests, ready to greet you and provide any assistance you may need. They will direct you to buses that will take you to (or near) your hotel at no cost to you. (Buses will run loops between the five designated hotels for delegates and the Minneapolis Convention Center.)

Look around for signs stating parking restrictions

Minneapolis street parking rules can vary from one street to the next. Take a moment to look around for signs stating parking restrictions before leaving your car, especially in business districts.

Check meter enforcement hours

Parking meter enforcement hours vary from street to street. Hours of enforcement are listed on each parking meter or parking spot number post. Unfortunately, these can be difficult or impossible to see without getting out of your car.

Parking is easy to find at the Minneapolis Convention Center

Parking is easy to find at the Minneapolis Convention Center (MCC). Across the street from the MCC is an underground parking ramp that is connected by a climate-controlled skyway system to the MCC and several downtown accommodations and attractions.

Look for parking ramps

Within easy walking distance of the MCC are a dozen parking ramps, most connected to the MCC by skyways.

Driving Rules and Reminders

Stone Arch Bridge credit Minneapolis Parks
  • Minnesota has a hands-free law for all mobile devices. You may not hold your phone in your hand while driving, even at stoplights. Also, a driver may not use their phone at any time for video calling, looking at video or photos, using non-navigation apps, reading texts, and scrolling or typing on the phone. The law allows a driver to use their cell phone to make calls, text, listen to music or podcasts, and get directions, but only by voice commands or single-touch activation without holding the phone. The first ticket is $50 plus court fees and the second and later tickets are $275 plus court fees.
  • Minneapolis is a cycling city. Before crossing over a bike lane, make sure there isn’t a cyclist in your path.
  • Nearly all the streets in downtown Minneapolis are one-way.
  • Unlike many other cities, cars are not allowed to drive down the city’s light rail tracks.
